Kansas Senate opening prayer yesterday

May 4th, 2009

Minister Joe Wright is right.  ”With the response from this brave minister’s words, only offers more proof that America needs more people of courage to rule.”

This prayer was given in Kansas at  the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people.

When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

“Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance.  We know Your Word says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good,’ But that is exactly what we have done.  We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it Pluralism.
We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.
We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; Cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Guide and bless these men and women Who have been sent to direct us to the Center of Your will and to openly ask these things in the name of your Son, The living Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.”

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the  prayer in protest. In six short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 calls with only 47 of those calls responding in the negative. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa, and  Korea.

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, the Rest of the Story, and received a greater response to this program than any other he has ever aired.

With the Lord’s help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called One Nation Under God.

House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement on tax reform

Cantor On Tax Reform

“Republicans offered a budget plan that would close loopholes and empower families, taxpayers and job creators with the opportunity to choose a simpler system or stay with the current tax code. Unfortunately Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats just said ‘no.’”

WASHINGTON, D.C. –
House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement on tax reform:

“Both Democrats and Republicans agree that our tax system is need of reform. Families and small businesses deserve a simpler tax code, and working together, we can achieve that goal.

“While employers continue to struggle, fifteen more Americans lose their jobs each minute, and families face unprecedented challenges, pushing through the largest tax increase on job creators in decades will not help end this recession or get our nation’s economy back on track.

“What’s clear is that the Democrat Majority in Washington remains disconnected from the realities families and small businesses are facing. Under the leadership of Paul Ryan, Republicans offered a budget plan that would close loopholes and empower families, taxpayers and job creators with the opportunity to choose a simpler system or stay with the current tax code. Unfortunately, instead of allowing families and job creators the choice of a simpler tax code, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats just said, ‘no.’”

Will the next US Supreme Court Justice be a woman?

May 4th, 2009

President Obama now has his first opportunity to influence the U.S. Supreme Court . At the end of June Justice David Souter will retire. Many are speculating on who that will be and if it will be a woman.

According to some news reports, Obama may be considering Sonia Sotomayor of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York, and Diane Wood of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago.  Obama may also be considering Stanford Law professor Kathleen Sullivan.

Pro-life leaders are already urging President Obama to avoid using a “pro-abortion litmus test” in his selection.

“We will work to oppose any nominee for the Supreme Court who will read the Freedom of Choice Act into the Constitution in order to elevate abortion to a fundamental right on the same plane as the freedom of speech,” stated Dr. Charmaine Yoest, President & CEO of Americans United for Life.

“In his search for a replacement for Justice Souter, President Obama should avoid a pro-abortion litmus test.” Dr. Yoest continued. “This nomination represents a test for a President who has expressed a public commitment to reducing abortions while pursuing an aggressive pro-abortion agenda.”

“Obama received greater than expected opposition to his nomination of extremist pro-abort Kathleen Sebelius to HHS,” commented Operation Rescue Troy Newman today.  “He can only expect that opposition will continue to grow if he has the poor sense to appoint a justice that will promote abortion from the bench.”

The relentless attack on faith and religion in our County

May 4th, 2009

America has always been a religious country, but it seems the only ones fighting hard are the atheists. Where are the people who say religion is an important part of this country, we should remain one nation under God, and that prayer in schools is a good thing, not evil!! What is happening?? Read the following study…

At the heart of religious practice is prayer: Americans pray even more than they go to church. According to a composite of surveys, 94 percent of blacks, 91 percent of women, 87 percent of whites, and 85 percent of men regard themselves as people who pray regularly. Nearly 78 percent pray at least once per week, and 57 percent pray daily. Even among the 13 percent of the population who call themselves agnostics or atheists,  20 percent of event that group pray daily! That is amazing…!

When policymakers consider America’s grave social problems, drug problems, violent crime’s on the rise, children being raised by one parent, and welfare dependency, they should heed the findings in the professional literature of the social sciences on the positive consequences of prayer and the practice of religion.

My Daily Post

May 4th, 2009

I have started this blog to connect with people who feel just like I do….frustrated and not sure what to do about it! I see our conservative values sliding further and further to the back and are about to completely fall off the cliff.  I went to a tea party in southern California on tax day and it ignited something in me. I discovered thousands and thousand of other Americans who felt exactly like I did! We were all just Americans who want to be heard, it wasn’t about gender, ethnicity, age, or even your party affiliation.  We were all just frustrated Americans with real concerns.  It blew me away, I thought I was alone. After all when you turn on the news or look at the latest polls; everything seems fine. Obama’s popularity ratings are steady, everyone supports the stimulus bill, and the ridiculous spending on capital hill? Well, what else are we suppose to do?  Let’s see give it a chance… WHAT? Are you kidding me?  And if you stand up and actually disagree?? Oh lord, well your just bad for the country, you’re divisive! I had to ask myself why I was the only one about to flip out, but after my tea party protest and connecting with others who were feeling exactly like I was, I got excited! I knew that if we could all unite as one people, as one voice, as one movement we just might be able to fight this. I believe in the Constitution of the United States and the Declaration of Independence. I believe that freedom has a price. I believe that our forefathers had it right, that this country should remain one nation under God and that “we the people” have the right to decide. In the days to come I will begin to fill my blog with detailed information, world and local  news updates, idea’s and ways to connect and make changes in your community, your school, your work place. The Conservative Buzz will become a hub for information helpful to our cause. There has never been a time such as this before, its time to rally the troops!  Stay tuned.. we are going to scream and yell together, create solutions together, and ban together as  people united. Please leave a comments, suggestions, and any request you have for information. I will research it and post.
