"Hypotheticals" refers to "hypothetical
example
s." A hypothetical example is a thing, and therefore "hypotheticals" is a noun since nouns label persons, places and things.

... Is English your second language?

That's not a rule you pedantic twit. There are no such words as "logicals" or "septentrionals" to name a few.

Apparently you're unfamiliar with portmanteaus, or "blended words." Here's a helpful but by no means comprehensive list:
http://www.knowledgerush.com/kr/encyclopedia/List_of_blended_words/

If that's not quite enough for you, try this on for size:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypotheticals

Nice try at saving face loser but this article doesn't validate the words I just listed. So since, you don't get the cigar you'll just have to smoke the one of your dear friend Q who incidentally decided to use you as a decoy to chicken out of the debate "sub rosa" so to speak.

You guys are so smart.  Roll Eyes

An article in Wikipedia doesn't mean squat moron. Some of them are written by unemployed leeches like you (I have fistfuls of PMs about you) who see it as a means of flattering their oversized ego.

You're a fraud!

You just keep murmuring that to yourself at night, as you pull the covers up around your ears and wet yourself a little at the thought someone like me might be lurking under your bed or in your closet.

If Wiki isn't to your taste, how about a dictionary citation? (Pay special attention to the reference under the lead, "--noun":
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/hypotheticals

Or perhaps this article from 1950, published by the Oxford Journals (you've heard of Oxford, right - perhaps the pre-eminent university in the English-speaking world?), entitled, "Hypotheticals." The article was written, please note, in 1950. So the word has been in legitimate use for at least 60 years!

Or you might try looking up a scholarly paper: "Hypotheticals as a Hueristic Device," by E. Rissland and K. Ashley, of the University of Massachusetts, which has to do (ironically, given our discussion in the other thread) with law.

Now, back to the woodshed with you, little miscreant.

Hmm.  This thread took a turn into Unpleasantville.  I don't have time in my day for visits to Unpleasantville.

So my last words are....

My examples still stand.  I have yet to see anybody counter what is self evident as a fact...the value of life is whatever value we place on it.  There is no set sum.  The life of some random stranger in Finland, holds less value to me than the life of my neighbor I talk to every morning.  And both of them hold less value to me than the life of my wife, my daughter, my son or my parents.  Even my sisters! Anyone who attempts to claim they feel otherwise is being intellectually dishonest.  "All life is precious" is a meaningless platitude.

If someone actually attempts to refute that point, I'll be happy to engage in that conversation.

No doubt. And notice something, little padawan: None of those people are helping you in this thread. They are quite content to let you be their ignorant little catspaw who gets pounded and pounded and pounded while they, like good cornermen, keep whispering in your ear, "He's about to go down, Connie! You've got him on the ropes, son!" Meanwhile, as you sluice blood and strings of snot and saliva all over your side of the ring, I'm sitting in my corner between rounds, scratching my nads and chatting up the cute girl at ringside ...while my cornermen wonder why they brought towels at all if I'm not even going to bother myself enough to sweat.

And why won't the folks PMing you help you? Because they've all been in my sights before, and don't want to repeat the experience!

Wow, it must be your lucky day chump! First, you make up a clumsy stupid word that sounds pompous and pedantic even by your standards and then it turns out that some constipated bureaucrat already made it up decades ago. Go get that lottery ticket, I hear it's parasitic pseudo-intellectual prick day.

Of course, you weren't sure that that word existed otherwise why would you have stalled for so long with your stupid side shows (like that irrelevant bit about portmanteaus) before getting some REAL evidence? If you had any literary taste you’d realize that that word is a useless monstrosity made up by some pedantic twit to impress other pedantic twits.

It would benefit you to read Molière’s Tartuffe ou L’Imposteur; you may discover some truths about yourself.

I just wanted to give you an honest warning that I already knew a lot about you, a lot more than you'd want me to know. In fact people have even given me a few phrases that would set you off like a roman candle and have you banned from this place in a heartbeat. I believe you already know what they are. You’ve been banned from this place more times than you can count, haven't you?

You're pretty funny for a mildly retarded little pipsqueak. I used a real word, used it correctly, knew that it was a real word and that I'd used it correctly. You challenged it as an imaginary word, and I more than adequately demonstrated that it was not only real by virtue of being a portmanteau, not only real by dictionary definition (which confirmed my proper use of the word), but also real and legitimate by pedigree. And rather than scuttle away guiltily like the pathetic bug you are, you have the gall to stand up on your chitinous hind legs like some crudely-wrought, insectoid imitation of a man and keep giving me guff. That's rich!

Have you ever read Hesse?

I don't care what you know or think you know about me, Mary. What anyone here knows about me they know because I've openly revealed it. Is there anything you'd like to know from the horse's mouth, or do you prefer to gather information from second hand sources?
