Wow, you are so full of it.

Jesus clearly said, "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. *NO MAN* comes to the Father except through *ME*."

You can't get to God through stupid hindu beliefs, Jeff.

You can try to PC the Bible all you want, but you're doing a harmful disservice to the Truth. You're one of those eggshell Christians who are too afraid of speaking about consequences.

the NT, in the parable of the sheep and the goats also says that "they will go away to eternal punishment, but hte righteous to eternal life" based on what they did in their lives.  Mt. 25:46

as a legal text this becomes difficult because it appears contradictory.
[note:  i hope that you notice that i am now quoting and citing verses, just like a legal text.  that's because you seem to believe that it is, even though it isn't.  Jesus never taught that we are returning to a new legalism.  neither did Paul - quite the contrary!]

Paul also deals with people who have not heard the Gospel and that God deals with that situation.  Paul does not refer to them in a legalistic way.

in anticipation to your possible question that Ghandi heard the Gospel:  i don't think that Ghandi really saw the Gospel at all.  rather, what he saw was something tainted beyond recognition.  ironically, his rejection of contemporary Christianity could have easily been an embrace of Jesus Christ.  let's hope that can't be said too often today (sadly, i think it is a general truth).   Undecided

ouch... there's that judging thing again.

you should work on that - especially if you consider the NT to be a legal text.   Wink

lol... funny.

don't you know your Bible?
it's common practice to only answer a question when the questioner first answers one returned - especially when the second question is directly related to the first.
the point is to get the person asking the first question to consider the implications of the question returned.

the whole "I asked mine first" is not a Biblical concept of question and answer, but a contemporary one - usually relevant to minor siblings.   Wink

Those are a lot of words, yet you still haven't answered the question.

It's a simple one, really.

Why are you afraid?

i already told you i will answer your question - as soon as you answer mine.

i even gave you a Biblical rationale.  you do believe the Bible, don't you?

if you won't, then neither will i answer your question.

Forget it, Jeff. If you don't have the courage to answer a simple question, I can already guess what it would be.

I'm going to assume that you think a hindu like Ghandi is in Heaven, despite what the Bible clearly states.

I bet you don't even believe in the existence of hell.

Quote:
They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in teh temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of hte law and the elders came to him.  "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked.  "And who gave you authority to do this?"
Jesus replied, "I will ask you one question.  Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.  John's baptism - was it from heaven, or from men?  Tell me!"
They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Then why didn't you believe him?'  But if we say, 'From men'...." They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.)
So they answered Jesus, "We don't know."
Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."
And they replied, "Forget it, Jesus. If you don't have the courage to answer a simple question, I can already guess what it would be."

Mk. 11:27-34 (note:  can you find the added text?   Wink )

the rest is your assumption based on what you think will be the answer (the one you really don't want me to answer or you'd answer the simple one i asked you).

and yes, i'm all too familiar with the charge of "you're not a Chistian."  i've been on this forum long enough for that.

probably because it's a religious tendency to say anyone who doesn't agree is apostate.  it happened through "Christian" history.
sadly, it continues today.
