It's a simple YES or NO question, Jeff.

Roll Eyes

What is it with liberals and answering questions directly?

i think i answered it already.  there's no way a person can know who is saved or not.  it's an eternal question and we are not in eternity.

not sure you know what a conservative is, if you think i'm liberal.  you should read up on people in the past who have tried to label me the same way....

maybe that's the problem:  labels.

maybe you should consider not looking at people as labels but the way God sees them:  as people, His creation, and who He died for.   Undecided
just a suggestion.
this is the Christian forum after all, not the ideological forum.  unless, as is most common, the two are the same now.

If he's committed to Christ he wouldn't scoff at the doctrine of Hell and Judgement. Christ was
very clear and serious about those matters.

how about this one:  if he's committed to Christ, he would accept the authority of the church.

or this:  if he's committed to Christ he would give his allegiance to the Pope, God's representative on earth.

a lot of people have their own criteria for the witch hunt.

if you've been here a few years you would be familiar with this one:  proof that a person worships Satan in that he reads the NIV Bible.

you strain a gnat and swallow a camel...
Christ was serious about those issues when it dealt with religious leaders.

the thing He was most serious about was love and dying for people.

i'll tell you one thing, Peter couldn't have been a Christian because he denied Jesus three times.  Judas only did it once.
and Jesus will judge them both.

Can you be a Christian and not believe the Bible?

Technically, yes.  Being Christian is faith in Christ not faith in the Bible.  Hard to imagine, though, a Christian in the western world--somebody fully committed to Christ--not believing the Bible; our source of knowledge about Christ.

He struggles with it.  He doesn't scoff at it from what I've seen.   Heck, I've struggled with it from time to time!

i guess nobody really believes "the Bible."

everyone believes their interpretation of the Bible.
actually, their interpretation of a translator's interpretation.

The "All roads lead to salvation" mentality/philosophy is as far as you
can get from the heart of Christ's teaching. There's a reason for
supporting missionaries and evangelists to other regions and at home.
He clearly doesn't believe in Heaven, Hell, judgement, the afterlife etc. from
what he expressed there. I don't worship the Bible, but it is the God ordained
source of truth and knowledge about salvation.

this isn't too clear... what do you mean?
are you saying that the heart of Jesus' message is that all roads lead to salvation?

and when you say that "all roads lead to salvation" are you saying that you can believe anything or any different religion and it will ultimately lead to your salvation?
i don't think that's true at all.

i think based on the comments at the bottom of the page (and some here) that generally people don't believe the Bible at all.
if they did, they wouldn't cut out parts that are disagreeable to human nature (namely, that natural impulse to judge).   Wink
