Just starting to learn myself and I was hoping for some good advice on how and where to start.

I suggest you simply go to the local off license and ask them for an inexpensive wine and describe what you like. Dry, sweet, red, white etc. Keep it simple and go from there. It takes most people a long long time to develop a palate. For me personally I learned where I like wines before I really learned what specifically I like. I would say this. Australian wines in my opinion are milder than most. That is my preference and you could start there. lindemans is a great inexpensive wine. I have a great book but I went to my library and couldn't find it. When I dig it out I 'll tell you what it is.

Oh we had the best Australian wine up in British Victoria before, many moons ago..You couldn't buy it here in the states.Sad No I can't remember the name, but maybe can find out..It was a white wine.

Dan don't you have any winery's where you live? We have them here in WA state...Even Montana has them..That is a good place to go and taste test..Only don't taste too much before driving.Wink

I used to like wine, now I've lost the taste buds for it.
