We didn't have computer games, so my "gaming" was mostly in arcades 1980's. Back in the early 90's, my girlfriend (wife) had a super nintendo. So that was basically my first consistent exposure to console games. I played some atari games before then, but not much at all to mention.

We had an Atari 2600. That was our first system. I remember playing Yar's Revenge, Pitfall, The Empire Strikes Back, Bezerk, and many others. We graduated to the Commodore 64 after that and then on to the PC, where I stayed for years. I never had another "game system" until my wife (who was my girlfriend at the time) introduced me to the Gamecube a few years ago. I became a huge fan of it and haven't looked back.  We now play games on a lot of older systems we've collected such as the N64 and the Gamecube, plus we bought a used Wii this year.

We love having game nights together. It's a great cheap date!

Hey!

My first video game was Pong, and it was a Heathkit system that my dad built.

One of the first arcade games that I can remember playing was Starship 1.  I'm sure there were some before that, I just can't remember which ones.  Space War, maybe...

For some reason I thought you were talking about that one.
I waited for about 20 mins. and lasted about the same time.
There were a couple of kids that were up several levels or what ever they called it, but they probably spent a $100.0 in quarter just to learn the damn thing.

Wasn't that one of the first to use some kind of interactive hard drive or something like that?

Laser disc.  Awesome video format, too.  I used to collect movies in that format until it was discontinued in about 2000.  It wasn't until Blu-Ray came out that the picture and sound format of LD was surpassed.

There were quite a few games done with laser discs.  Some were interactive like Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair II: Time warp, and Space Ace (all animated by Don Bluth).  While others used the laser disc video for the backgrounds, like Mach 3, Us VS Them, Cube Quest, and Star Rider just to name a few.

The first video game system I remember having was the classic NES. I mostly played Duck Hunt on it because I wasn't very good at Mario Bros so I just watched my older brother and sister play. Then we got a SNES and that is the first system that I was actually able to play games on without immediately getting a game over. It is probably still my favorite system even though I have since had (and still have) an N64, Gamecube, Wii, Nintendo DS, Playstation, and Playstation 2. Some of my favorite games on the SNES include Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario All Stars, and Super Mario World.

My first stereo was a Heathkit, then I got the shortwave radio, but got distracted by girls at that time and ...welllll,
The rest is history, and so was the radio. Wink

I don't remember what the first game I had was but this is the first game I remember playing:

I had to wait in line at the arcade to play it for hours I think and was so excited when it was my turn and then I was dead in less than 30 seconds.  Cry

You can buy that for your PC now.  I remember that was one of three new "laser games" that came out in the arcade--one other being Star Wars (which was really cool), but I can't remember the third one.

Very addicting game!  Ever try the "Roman Candle"?  Played it like crazy on my Amiga A500.
