Exactly, and you don't have to pay the obscene amount of money for crap like Visual Studio, scripting is a breeze also for *nix not to mention 100x more secure.

Viz Studio Pro is going for around $2k, I think, last time I checked.  That is crazy.

I've got a MSDN license through work so I get all this crap for free, don't use it for there are better options Wink

I have used vi for years.  Even when I type in my word processor, I will hit ESC and try to do a vi command.

I know a lot of people like using Eclipse but I bounce between vi, gedit and Ultraedit.  It just depends on what needs to be done, I'm not a coder but I do need to crawl and/or hack code at times.

you can't beat grep, sed, awk and find Wink

I've worked in Dev for years, I hack our own code.  Not to mention scripts

What in the hell do you mean "hack"?  What is wrong with you?  What kind of operation are you guys running over there???  How are you modifying code if you can't write code?

so scripting isn't code?

so Q/A and testing doesn't require crawling and hacking code?

I take it you've never worked in a Dev environment
