No, that's simplistic at best. There is philosophical validity of the worldview, the testimony of ancient documents, the testimony of billions of others, as well as my corresponding experiences. Of course, we've been through this before. Let me steal somebody else's words to describe it:

"In Jesus we found not only great relief from the existential angst we carried, but experienced deep liberation for our souls. Our lives were literally turned around, and all those old clichés became for us a profound reality: we were the lost and now found, we were the blind who could now see." (Alan & Debra Hirsch, untamed).

"All those old clichés [become] profound reality." At the risk of sounding esoteric, I can't explain to you what I am confident is true. There are people (like Alan & Debra Hirsch) who would not have understood either, but now they do.

It's certainly not as simple as "I believe this made-up stuff because it makes me feel better."
