These would be blasphemous claims, if not true.  Do you think the Pharisees believed he was God?  I don't.

No I don't believe the Pharisees believed he was God. We're not talking about what they believed, but what they accused Jesus of claiming.  I do believe they accused Him of "claiming" to be equal with God.  Like I said, they understand the significance of the "Before Abraham was, I AM" statement.  Which is why they picked up stones to kill Him when He said it.

I believe that Jesus claimed to be God, but he did so in a way that it wouldn't be obvious.  So people understood that he claimed to be equal with God but it would be the furthest thing from the Jewish mind to perceive that he meant what he said literally.

They attempted to entrap him because according to the teachers, only God can forgive.  We have our opinions about whether or not some realized just who Jesus is.  It's not paramount to the overall message and as I stated we will have our answers in the end.  I personally believe that some realized just who he is.  To see a man healing, raising the dead and forgiving sins I would have probably thought this man was God.  There could be no other rationalization in my view.  Good discussion.

It is, and as you say, the argument is not central.  Because I'm anal and love having the last word, Jesus did the same kinds of miracles that Elijah and Elisha did, including raising people from the dead.

I guess it depends how you define "hanging out".
He didn't say "hey dudes, let's go prostituting and get hammered together."
He did go to their feasts, eat with their families, go to their weddings and sometimes even invite Himself to their homes.

But what was His intention? It was to give them the good news of His coming.

I thought that a reference to marriage.

That as well, but  also to be yoked with those only of like mind as in business and friendships, so that we would not fall into sin ourselves.

I wouldn't assume that.  But I also wouldn't assume that in every occasion Jesus sermonized.

Jesus was human in the flesh, but He was still God. I wouldn't  put him on the same level of people wanting to hang out. Everything He did was for a specific reason.

Quote:
I don't completely agree.  A bar or pub or pub/restaurant is not an inherently evil place.  Drinking in moderation is not inherently evil.

Go into a bar and tell me if you'd mind if your priest or pastor would be comfortable in an environment like that were swearing goes on as well as lewd behaviour.

Quote:
Many pharisees denied themselves and thought that made them holier than Christ who did not deny Himself wine.

There's a lot of discussion concerning wine, if it was "fruit of the vine" which means undistilled  or not. The consensus was that it was not fermented
.
Quote:
And I also believed Christ went to many funerals, weddings, and festivals in His lifetime (especially before He declared Himself) without preaching, teaching or being the center of attention.  There's a time and place for everything.

He did? Jesus did everything for the purpose of winning people. Even when he raised Lazarus.

Quote:
“Because that by reason of him [Lazarus]
many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus”

That is why He raised Lazarus from the dead.

Whose consensus? Unless it was fresh squeezed grape juice from freshly picked grapes (very unlikely) then it was wine. There was no refrigeration. Wine was the ubiquitous cultural export of the Roman empire--all peoples at all levels of society drank it, though usually watered down.

First of all, the header on this forum says, "For Christians to meet and discuss Christianity. From Protestant to Catholic. Others, please use the religion board. "

This means this forum is not for you.

Secondly, there is a multitude of references to NEW WINE. New wine is not yet fermented.
