When I began reading that list, I thought... The more the author writes on each subject, the more he turns a person off from wanting to vote for Obama. Had he just listed the different "accomplishments" all would have been much better and much more persuasive.

I am not trying to rain on this parade, but it would have been so much better had the author said an 8 word sentence or less on each point.

I disagree completely with the GOP on issues of abortion, choice and immigration, to list but a few.
I firmly believe in a woman’s right to choose to be pregnant or not, most especially during the first trimester. Nobody should be forced to carry a fetus to term, certainly not a victim of incest or sexual assault. We must rely upon a rational decision making process by the pregnant woman and whatever support system she might have. The decision to terminate a pregnancy during the second or third trimester should be a carefully considered medical decision. The ability to provide a reasonably reliable means of female contraception was one of the greatest achievements of mankind. The next step is to advance a reliable means of male contraception, without an invasive procedure.
An unwanted pregnancy results in an unwanted child. Relatively few of these children are adopted out. As shallow as it may seem; the majority of folks choosing to adopt want only the healthy, “blonde haired, blue eyed babies”, or a similar cultural / racial variant. Those of mixed race or with any variety of birth defects are typically rejected. A great many wind up as wards of the state and are raised by staff in a variety of social service agencies. Even those accepted into a familial foster care are often abused in one manner or another.
Most of those described above are put out on their own by age 18, and a great many of those just repeat the cycle. As a result of every policy dictating political correctness, respect of diversity, and theological belief, those staff are generally prevented from discussing any level of values and acceptable behaviors for fear of offending one group or another.
We – documented, card-carrying Americans – are never going to round up each and every undocumented individual and ship them out of the country. Even if it were possible to do just that, the legal system would be completely overwhelmed and rendered non-functional in short order. The cost would be prohibitive. Individuals brought here in infancy (a legal term for “infant” typically includes anyone under the age of 18 or 21) should not be penalized for the misdeeds of their parents. They have known no other society, regardless of their heritage.
In my years on this planet, I have twice sought the services of an abortionist and without a second thought afterwards. It was “our” choice to make. Further, I spent some 35 years in a variety of social services positions and learned well the agency and foster care systems.
With over 300 million in this country alone and some 6 billion plus on the planet, we can ill afford the lack of proper birth controls trumpeted by the GOP and their fanatical religious affiliates. While the pro-life crowd may despair the actions of those seeking to choose, they do very little other than vocalize their opposition. Ask pro-lifers for substantial funding for those social agencies caring for the unwated and guess their response.
As such, I have come to find myself at odds with the GOP and cannot in good faith help to elect any one of them into office.

Yeah, I know you didnt write it. If you had brought the 50 policies and or achievements of Obama without all that writing, it really would have been a good list. I am sure though WP would have targeted each one and placed them all in his cross hairs.
