They do this in hopes the federal government will leave them alone so they can make their money in peace. (They sure dont want the IRS on their backs!)

Yeah, Buffett was such a good brown noser! However, he has made mega money since his good friend (Obama) has been in office that he can afford to pay the IRS whatever...

Besides, he has complained enough about not paying enough taxes so....

here is your answer~

They do so because the Govt will make favorable legislation impacting their companies...they also get the jump on any bill the Presdient or their bought memebers of congress initiate or polan to initiate.

This is also known as insider trading....they make millions just on the news that a bill is in the works.

So does congress....you or I would get handcuffed by the SEC...but congress gets away with it, thats why there is a bill to make insider trading by congress illegal as it should be

Ever wonder why so many of them (the President included) get to be millionaires after getting elected?

If he really felt he wasnt paying enough taxes, his tax form had/has a section for him to check and state how much extra he'd like to send to the government.
