Zero, of course. Why do you ask such stupid questions?

Finally. Zero. Very good.

So then if zero is your acceptable number of child deaths in farm accidents annually, why then are you defending children doing work on farms which might kill them?"

Because it's not my place, your place, or the governments place to tell parents that their children cannot work for the family business.

Children who climb trees can get killed. Children who ride bicycles can get killed. Children who don't stay in bed all day can get killed.

What do you want to do with children? Hook them up to a bunch of IVs and have them on life support?

Years ago when I was much younger, the 12 year old son of a neighbor went outside during a thunderstorm and was struck in the head by lightning and killed. Cry Cry Cry

Ah, so you absolve the farmer by putting these words in his mouth: "If I make my kid do something that causes his death, that's my business and no one else's!" ...Is that it?

I think the law would look at the situation you describe in a totally different way.

Near where I live a stepmother and the biological
father of a young teenage son decided they were going to teach the boy how to behave.

In 98 degree weather they tied the boy to a tree in their yard and made him stay there all night with no food and no water. The boy died the next day and the stepmother and the biological father have ended up  with long prison sentences. They lost their home, land cars, and everything they owned. The father tried to blame everything on the stepmother.!

I just bet the law has taught them how NOT to behave.

That seems to be the basis for your argument, Harry: It's solely the farmer's business if he does something that gets his kid killed, and no one else's - most certainly not the government's business.

Show me how I'm wrong about that.
