IOW, he refuses to answer a question concerning what he believes, under the guise of "it's off topic." Got it. I fully expect such behavior from a "believer."

Again, you have it wrong.  He put forth his opinion about what Judaism says.  You asked him if he believed it.  He answered that yes, he believes that is what Judaism says.  When you pressed him about whether he believed what Judaism says, he said that he wasn't a Jew, so why would he hold to the tenets of Judaism?  It's actually pretty clear--it's right there on the page.

Your insistence on finding out what he believes outside of Judaism certainly is off topic.  Isn't it?

Okay . . . I admit it . . . that's an acceptable subterfuge for not answering the question.

He answered the question you asked.  Not the one you wanted answered.

You're making progress . . . you're almost there .  . . He answered a question that I asked, with a qualification, so as to avoid answering the question that I wanted answered.

In order to stay on topic.  Remember that there are enough threads in which you have challenged people about their personal beliefs in order to share your own opinions about those beliefs.  Is that really necessary here too?

No need to reinvent the wheel.    Huh Huh

You're giving Atheists a bad name with your anti-intellectual, juvenile whining and feet stomping.  Now wash your mouth out with soap and go to your room young lady.   Roll Eyes

One of the problems I have in trying to talk to religionists is that they seem to rely on internal ambiguous jargon and won't give you a straight answer.

Under Judaism, does God want everyone to obey the Ten Commandments?  Does He want everyone to obey the kosher laws?

Sorry.  I flit hither, thither and yon...

Meanwhile - Survey says!
No.  G-d asks no one except Jews to obey the 613 Commandments that He delineates in His Torah.
According to Judaism, what G-d does ask is that all Mankind obey the "Seven Noachide Laws."
Which are:
Prohibition of Idolatry
Prohibition of Murder
Prohibition of Theft
Prohibition of Sexual immorality
Prohibition of Blasphemy
Prohibition of eating flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive
Establishment of courts of law

According to the Torah, if a non Jew obeys these Laws, then the "holiness" of his life or, to put it in Christian terms, his "place in Heaven," is determined by all the same qualities that matter to other religions - a person's kindness; charity; good deeds; tolerance; love; etcetera.

Judaism is a religion where Jews obligated themselves to be G-d's People by encompassing a much larger Code of Laws and therefore taking on the responsibility to be a "Light unto the Nations."
A non Jew is "obligated" to keep the Seven Noachide Laws.
