I'm no fan of Obama, but putting a smiley emoticon on bad economic news because it benefits Romney? Really?

What's more important, being right or having the conditions in our country be good?

I think Obama has been a pretty weak president on the economy and other issues. Still, I'd be glad if the economy picked back up and other things started going well even if it meant I was wrong about Obama's policies or if it meant I was right, but that these things got better in spite of his policies.

Isn't it better to live in good times, even if the guy you disagree with gets to stay in office, than to live in bad times with the guy you agree with in office?

The stock market, especially the DOW, is a poor and over used indicator of the health of the economy. The stock market showing growth only means that a small fraction of American businesses are growing, and that fraction are the biggest of the big corporations that are always better at weathering tough a tough economy (in fact they sometimes do better when they can outlast and buy up the smaller companies that can no longer hang on). The DOW just a fraction of that fraction of the market.

The real indicator of whether the economy is improving would be a measure of small business growth. That is much more difficult to determine, and I don't know of any day to day measure of that in existence.

My argument for how this is attributable to Obama is that he reappointed Ben Bernanke. A lot of the current prices in stocks and commodities include priced in inflation and future inflation.

Ah, so you start the thread by suggesting that Obamanomics is suppressing the stock market over the last 11 days, and now you say that Obamanomics has no power over the run-up of the last 3 years?
