Raising taxes does what Maestro? Puts more money in the pockets of politicians who love to spend. It will not spur growth, passes the pain to the taxpayers and does absolutely nothing to get to the source of the issue, excessive spending. I have ZERO trust in our so called leaders to curb their spending by giving them more money. EVERYTIME we raise taxes what does the government do? Spend even more. The source of our problem are the politicians we send to Congress.
OK, but what does that have to do with your accusation that I am ignoring the spending problem?
This poll is based upon the assumption that the budget cannot be balanced without spending cuts. I said so in the opening thread. The title is "What would you promise to cut?" I then gave people the choices of which portions they would cut. I then included my own proposed cuts that balanced the budget without touching taxes at all!
At the end of the poll, I gave people the option of raising
or cutting taxes to bring more money into government because I knew that different people believe in either one of those two options and would want to cut less than the deficit and would want to make up the difference in one of those two ways.
As far as that goes, you can choose both in this poll (which other people on LNF have suggested: raise taxes on some and lower them on others).
I am honestly curious to see what people here say.
The fact that I included raising taxes in a poll in no way means that raising taxes is what I want to do any more than a poll in which I asked "Are you voting for Obama, Romney, someone else or nobody?" would mean that I am voting for Obama.
