Rotten teachers
May 21^st, 2012 at 12:02pm

One I remember I'll call "Mr. M", an american history teacher that I had in 8th grade. One day he described "The Pilgrims" (Massachusetts Bay Colonists) as founding the first permanent settlement in north america. I used to read encyclopedias a lot when I was a kid, and told him that St. Augustine had been founded decades before. He got really mad and insisted he was right.

It's not the job of teachers' unions to determine which of their members is a bad teacher, it's up to management to decide that, and then prove the case against them. It's the union's job to defend the teacher from capricious and bogus charges; that's why management has to be able to prove the accusation before the teacher can be dismissed. How hard is this to understand, really?
