It was written in 1025. Seriously?

Should I also look at writings in the old English as well as an example of writing style for today?

Moving to the 20th century at the very least would be helpful.

What? Were human lives different in 1025? Love, hate, jealousy, lust, compassion, pain delight?

Yes. You should be looking at prose written during all periods of history.

It's called style. It's changed considerably since then.

Looking and emulating are two different things. I try not to copy other people's styles. Maybe you do.
