Just got through listening to Obama's speach at the bridge, on this, the 5oth anniversary of the March at Selma.

I will offer this:

Obama, for the very first time, was able to speak from his own heart, what is written on his heart and not one word, was partisan.

I was shocked. I did not know he had that in him.

Kudos, Mr. Obama. Though I have never been a fan, you knocked that out of the park. Anyone who tries to make that partisan, is less than a fool.

Finish your term, with those words you spoke, in mind and you have your legacy.
You are at your best, when you are not reading from the teleprompter, the canned words from the partisan asshats, you are surrounded by.

Great job, Mr. President. Today, you rose up from out of the sewage of politics and showed the country, something real.

While that speech is still fresh on my mind, I must say.... though I have never found much good to say about President Obama, and honestly, have even been loathe to utter the words, "President Obama", today, he made history.

He will be remembered for that speech, long after his politics have been decimated and long forgotten. He will be remembered for that speech.... for in it, he did reveal the abundance of his own heart.

God Bless you Mr. President.
I pray those words will be remembered and observed.

I don't get why Selma is supposedly such a big deal.

Jasmine, it was really the beginning of the civil rights movement.
Those rights are American values, and it is not just about blacks. It is about all people and the very spirit of American values, which are to overcome oppression, in all forms of oppressive government.

That concept should unite us, regardless of party politics or political agenda.
It is our common bond, as Americans..... that is, IF, we really believe in the greatness of American Independance. That is a bond that cannot be easily broken.

Selma is not the only big deal in the American revolutionary way of thinking. There are many signifigant moments, in our history.... like the signing of the Declaration of Independence, for example.
Selma is a good reminder, one more milestone in our history, that reminds us, that our freedom is a God given blessing and not the decree of lords, nor kings, nor masters.

That said.... I have no idea what in the hell Bill O'Reilly has to do with it.

I know some, I don't care much for, either. So?
What is gained by making civil rights and the sacrifice people made, by limiting it into just a racial issue?

If we do that, there are no winners.... only losers.

The sacrifice is bigger than that.
