in general, which party would do better if:

- there were term limits
- the country had to run under a balanced budget amendment...spend equal to or less than it takes in
- no riders on bills - bills must stand on their own merit

Neither party would ever agree to such an outlandish attempt to stymy their ability to spend the peoples money

I agree...however I am convinced that unless these 3 things happen, our country is on a collision course with failure. The rules of the game are broken, not unlike the banking rules enacted by the feds in the 1990's that caused the near collapse of our financial industry.

100% agree.. Its going to have to be the people who demand it and a Candidate that runs on it, the old guard will fight it tooth and nail but I believe if someone from either party stepped up and ran on this platform they would get a lot of support from the voters.

its a bit of a race...one party is trying desperately to change the demographics of the country with more dependents, and also relax voting laws...the more dependents there are in the country, and the fewer taxpayers, the harder it will become to getting voters to vote responsibly vs. simply for the politician who promises to give them the most...

Heck yes, we see that even now. People vote on promises, promises to expand this program or help this organization or group of people..
Sadly, I think we have already stepped over the line of no return as far as hoping for a candidate, if done it will have to be done by force and by the people.

It seems you cannot de-regulate and have a central bank.

Regarding the point of this thread- I do not believe the change we seek will come through the political process. It is simply not going to happen that way.

The solution in my view is to build the system we want for ourselves and our communities.
