I understand why he was voted into office the first time.  It was because he was black, and people wanted to prove we aren't a biased nation.  I will never figure out why he was voted in the second time.  Thank God for term limits.

Let's see now...  First up:

Colonel in charge of Quantico's Security Battalion relieved
Oct. 18, 2013 - 06:00AM

The two-star head of Marine Corps Installations Command has relieved the commanding officer of Quantico’s Security Battalion following an incident involving a personal weapon, Marine Corps officials said.

Col. Daren Margolin, a 24-year officer was removed from his post Oct. 18 by Maj. Gen. Juan Ayala due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command, said Capt. Maureen Krebs, a Marine Corps spokeswoman.

Krebs said the decision stemmed from a single incident last week involving one of Margolin’s personal weapons, but said she did not have authorization to elaborate on the incident. Margolin has also been charged with several violations under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, but the specific charges are not releasable because Margolin’s relief was the result of an administrative process, she said.

Two Marine generals fired in wake of brazen Taliban attack on Camp Bastion

By Chris Carroll
Stars and Stripes
Published: September 30, 2013

WASHINGTON — Citing a failure to adequately protect their troops from Taliban attackers who penetrated Camp Bastion in Afghanistan last year, Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. James Amos on Monday took the highly unusual step of firing a pair of two-star generals.

The forced retirement of Maj. Gen. Charles M. Gurganus and Maj. Gen. Gregg A. Sturdevant comes more than a year after the attack that killed two Marines, Sgt. Bradley Atwell and Lt. Col. Christopher Raible. The attackers also wounded eight and destroyed six Harrier jets during the assault on Sept. 14-15, 2012.

Gurganus was commander of Regional Command-Southwest at the time of the attack, while Sturdevant was Marine aviation commander in the area. In the attack, 15 Taliban fighters dressed in U.S. Army uniforms cut through perimeter wires and penetrated the base, guarded by Tongan troops.

Raible, 40, the commander of a Harrier squadron, was killed as he led a counterattack on the Taliban infiltrators. Atwell, 27, an aviation mechanic on the scene as the attack began, reportedly died from an exploding RPG round, the same that killed Raible.

In a statement endorsing the findings of an investigation into the attack, Amos wrote that the two generals had a “sacred responsibility” to ensure effective protection for their troops. But Gurganus, Amos said, made errors in assessing the Taliban’s strength and intentions in the area.

Number 3 sir!:

IG: Former 20th AF commander was drunk during Russia trip

Dec. 19, 2013 - 06:00AM

The two-star formerly in charge of the Air Force’s nuclear missile arsenal was “frequently rude” to his hosts while he led a U.S. delegation to Russia, socialized with “suspect” women and appeared to be so drunk that one witness worried he needed help standing, according to an inspector general investigation report released Thursday.

Maj. Gen. Michael Carey was fired as commander of 20th Air Force for conduct unbecoming an officer in October following the Air Force inspector general’s finding. A member of the delegation reported his behavior to the inspector general shortly after returning from the trip in July.

Carey is still a two-star, and has since been reassigned as the special assistant to the commander of Air Force Space Command and has received a “letter of counseling.” Carey was promoted to two-star in November 2011 when he served as deputy director of command, control and nuclear operations at the Pentagon.

The inspector general report said that Carey: was publicly drunk on the flight over and during the stay in Russia; made repeated statements on subjects such as Edward Snowden and Syria that were not “well received” by Russian leaders; publicly flaunted his authority as commander of a nuclear force during an airport delay; was “pouting and sulking” during tours with Russian officials and delayed activities on two days after staying out late drinking.
