I donít think so. Slavery was never mentioned until the war was almost over. The war was about tariffs. Taxes, and politics.

Sadly, this guy believes that crap. ^^^

It is the truth Thor. The real history. Not what the liberal teachers and college professors lie about. The South had an economic use for slavery and the new slave states could be created and the South's political influence would remain strong. The North wanted to limit the spread of slavery into the new territories to control Southern political power. Most people in the North never even saw a slave, and most people in the south never owned one. Toward the end of the war, the moral principle became more known, and freeing them became more a part of the war. Lincolnís idea and feelings for African-Americans would evolve over the years of his presidency. In the last speech of his life, on April 11, 1865, he wanted the slaves to be free, saying that any black man who had served the Union during the Civil War should have the right to vote.
The war ended April 9, 1865. It was a lot more involved than just slavery. But slavery was ended, and that was a good thing.

You are quite willfully ignorant Archie. Fortunately for those of us who live in reality, the leaders of the CSA were kind enough to leave us their motivaitons in writing.   Grin Grin Grin

Did the CSA tell you this. I am sure your grammar school didn't teach it.

Lincoln further understood that the South was gravitating toward secession as the remedy for a different grievance altogether: The egregiously inequitable effects of a U. S. protective tariff that provided 90 percent of federal revenue. Southerners were generating two-thirds of U. S. exports, and also bearing two-thirds of the retaliatory tariffs abroad. The result was that that the 18.5 percent of America's citizens who lived in the South were saddled with three times their proportionate share of the Federal governmentís costs.
