IMF to announce reserve currency alternate for the dollar to be used in world trade. The announcement is to occur on October 20th. Wonder how long it will take for interest rates on dollar transactions to rise? See link to "The Crux" below:

Anyone have any thoughts on which assets stand to gain from this sort of realignment, and which stand to lose?

Obviously it would be a bad time to be in treasuries. Yields on treasuries will have to rise, sending prices down.

US financials seem to be risky as well, considering how much they rely on the arbitrage associated with low interest rates, and the problems highly leveraged balance sheets have when right downs begin or rates rise.

It seems that companies like Apple, which are boosting share prices by taking on more debt and engaging in stock buy backs, may see their share prices fall as that game comes to an end.

In general, it seems that this will harm those firms with heavy debts.

What about commodities?

Gold and Silver?

My guess is they are heading up as people look to replace their safe haven assets.
