I personally believe Scripture clearly  teaches an eternal punishment in an eternal Hell. This issue has been argued here before, and probably will again.

Here are two blog posts supporting my view. Judge for yourself !

I also believe that the doctrine of eternal punishment/judgement/torment is clear in scripture. I about exhausted all I have to say on it though in a thread we had here last year.   The main links that were used by the annihilationist to back up his argument were those of a SDA apologist,  a universalist, and an angry blaspheming Atheist that mocked and critiqued the doctrine of eternal punishment, and of the existence of God in general.

Thread started by maat on the subject.

I agree with you guys. What I don't understand is how this could possibly be questioned at all.

It has been debated for centuries...almost from the beginning.

Why not give her a quick synopsis of why you question it !

I don't. I'm not as sold on eternal hell as I used to be, but I'm still on that side of the line.

Many times I think alternative interpretations are strongly influenced by wishful thinking: "I wish eternal damnation did not exist." Some very ancient theologians (1st and 2nd century) have actually expressed themselves with similar sentiment.

What theologians were there in the first century ?
