"Ehrman] regularly goes beyond what the evidence can sustain. For this reason the book, like many of his others, comes across as more autobiographical than academic; more polemical than historical.  Ehrman still seems to be chasing the ghosts of his evangelical past. One wonders how many more books he will need to write before they go away. "

The frustrating thing about Ehrman is, that if you read his works very carefully, with discernment, there is a surprisingly amount of information to be found. But, those with limited knowledge, can and are easily led astray; after all, he is a world-renowned Professor, so he has to be right , correct ?

Yeah, that book came out a couple years ago.. I've heard him in some of his debates.  His argument basically comes down to being "we can't be sure what the original writers really said, because there are variants in the manuscripts. If God really inspired the NT, then He would have used supernatural means to perfectly preserve every copy that every scribe has made through the ages."
He said this in spite of admitting the NT has more documents dating back to a time closer to the originals than any other ancient manuscripts.  He sees this as irrelevant since the claim is that of a supernatural source.  Any scholar that rages against the veracity of scripture will get the bulk of the media and press, no matter how asinine their argumentation.

One of the most interesting critiques I heard about Ehrman was that, since rejecting fundamentalist Christianity, he became a fundamentalist skeptic.

This book is another example of speculation used to fill the gaps in his speculative theories based on fundamental assumptions.

James White debated him, as you show. I'd forgot that. White is one of the better practitioners of Presuppositional apologetics.

It was a good debate.  Ehrman was pinned into concluding that we can not trust any ancient documents to reliably contain any accurate transmission of the original text.
