It's interesting that people involved in a socialist institution (the military) like socialism in the context of the military but don't like it in other contexts.

I don't know that I would call the military a socialist institution.  At least not with my understanding of socialism which, at its root, is "contributing according to ability, drawing according to need."

It is socialist in the sense that there government controls the means of production. The degree of government control is much larger than the "socialist" Obamacare.

It is also provided through tax revenue, so the amount that one pays is based on one's means.

Still not buying the assertion, but fair to middling try.  Not all taxes are based on ability to pay, you know.  But even if they were, national defense is a necessary function of ANY form of government.  It cannot in any way be characterized as "socialist."

I hadn't noticed either of those - claims to be experts at how private sector should operate or asking for handouts.  Maybe I don't get out enough.

around here most stores have signs proclaiming military discounts
my business gats calls asking if we give military discounts, when we say no, they hang up - and often say something nasty

and please tell me why most vets are against others trying to create some sort of reasonable health care system for anyone but them
