- any points from our economics group?

- world trade and mass production in places like China could be resulting in deflationary times?

As far as I know global trade is depressed and investment/production is more or less flat.

So I would look to decreases in spending as the reason- assuming deflation is occurring right now.

- isnt there increasing supply that is deflationary? - goods and services and more things available on the net and world trade

It would be if that were a predominant trend.

Where do you see increases in investment and production?

Production, in general, is deflationary if you consider that the natural supply of these goods is zero.

Yeah but production always increases supply.

The question is in regards to growth rates... is it increasing or decreasing.

You can have slower growth and still have increasing supplies of goods and services.

- often there is slower growth rates or even declines in dollar terms of produced stuff -  goods and services - but still the quantity growing sharply - exp. cell phone production
- isnt this happening in so many markets that its deflationary? - only thing offsetting it is increasing demand but that isnt likely to keep pace of the mass production of more and more items, services, apps etc (things available to buy everywhere)

Competitive production causes deflation, not production alone.  Mass production is only profitable to monopolies operating in protected markets so, no.
