We can all say, obviously,  that Mormonism is hilariously stupid.

For reasons linked to tradition,  manners, call it what you will, more mainstream versions of Christianity receive less derision.

That's OK with me.

Anyhoo...  In the political boards, I am currently suggesting that for the US to have considered a Mormon -Romney - as President,  hints at a deep problem in your political system.

Because Mormonism is entirely stupid, and obviously fictional.

It's funny. Read the Book, it will make you laugh, unless you are a moron.

I do not think many people were voting for Romney because he was a Mormon.

Mostly his Mormonism was heavily downplayed.

Yeah, but, the very fact that a Mormon was a contender is the alarming point.

I'm not happy with ANY deeply religious person holding public office.. They invariable feel justified in placing their version of Sharia over federal, state or local law à la Kim Davis.. .

The world will continue to be a violent shit hole as long as the Abrahamic religions are allowed to drive ....

The two largest Abrahamic religions have only been around for 2,000 and 1,400 years respectively, and for most of that time did not count a majority of the human race as their followers.

Yet there was violence everywhere, not just where Abrahamic religions held sway.

Secular societies have also been very violent, as the 20th century witnesses.

We must thus conclude that violence is just an inherent feature of human society.  As Plato said 400 years before Christ and 1,000 years before Muhammed "Only the dead have seen the end of war."

I was not "defending" anything.

I was merely pointing out that violence is an inherent part of human society and of relations between societies especially.

As in the past, the concept of a written Constitution escapes you. Our magnificent Constitution clearly states there can be no religous test for public office. That means whatever you or anyone thinks of a candidate's faith is irrelevent, save for one's private decision.

What on Earth are you talking about?

This thread has nil to do with considerations of your Constitution.

And, oddly, being clever enough to breath in and out in the right order, the concept of a Constitution is within my powers of comprehension.

The fact that you consider a candidate's faith to be a subject for consideration. It is understood your personal view of Mormonism actually, at least in regards to their theology, is pretty much in line with mine, though they are some of the best people ,of whom I know. Here, again, no matter how silly you may consider one's faith, it has zero to do with their candidacy. I consider Socialism to be immoral, stupid and logically unsupportable. But, under your laws, it is legal, and not a matter for debate for said legality.
