In my mind, part of what separates a GOOD chase scene from a CLASSIC chase scene is lust!  The viewer has to lust after the car or cars in the chase.  As an example, take "Bullitt" and "The Seven Ups".  The chase scenes were actually done by the same stunt team and same stunt drivers.  When compared side by side they are both pretty exciting.  BUT, Bullitt is considered the gold standard of car chases because the viewer WANTS a 68 Mustang GT.  Now that is cool beyond words.  You WANT to be in that Mustang.  You NEED to be in that Mustang.  On the other hand, in The Seven Ups, the chase car is a baby sh*t green 73 Pontiac Ventura.  That car was a piece of sh*t even when it was new.  Only little old ladies lusted after that thing.  Or high school seniors who's mommy passed that turd down to them.  Exciting, yes, lustful... no.

Greg, have you ever seen this Buster Keaton movie. Filmed in 1926 about a civil war train chase and it may be one of the best/different chase scenes ever. Keaton was always good.

Not only does johnnie big time love his train, when it is stolen his girlfriend is aboard.
it is based on a true story - loosly

Top car chase movies

4.     Vanishing Point (1971) - Barry Newman is Kowalski.  He makes a bet that he can deliver a white Dodge Challenger from LA to Denver in under 24 hours.  Little dialog but LOTS of action.

A lot of dialog wasn't really necessary. The plot went deeper than simply a car chase.

I'll add some,
White lightning (1973 Burt Reynolds)

Cold Sweat (1970 Charles Bronson)

I forgot, but if you want to talk about car chases, Bad Boys 2 has amazing one's.

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, when I was dead broke I couldn't picture this.

what a frickin find

"According to a series of photos and posts in a vintage Mustang forum, one of the most memorable cars from modern cinema-the 1968 green Ford Mustang fastback in Bullitt-has possibly been found in Mexico."

"After filming concluded, the car was reportedly sold off, a poignant decision that apparently tormented Steve McQueen-he reached out several times to the person to whom he sold the car, asking to buy the car back, but to no avail. The newly-discovered fastback will apparently be on display at a Ford dealership in Mexico for a day before making its way to the U.S. for restoration."

of course I always wish it was me, but I love it when people find really cool things, works of art at garage sales and now pretty much the coolest car ever in some mexican garage. just glad they didn't do whatever they were about to do to this iconic hollywood car

hope trump lets the car back over the border
