Here's another WP article (cited by the WP article in the OP), that says "Not only that, but many of Trump’s tweets are sent from an Android phone. Trump’s Android phone is apparently the same one he’s used for years."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2017/02/09/what-president-trump-...

This is being reported by WP, NYT, Wired, all kinds of outlets.  It's a common story now.  Trump has a personal android phone, one that he's had for years, and he is still using it.  Considering how thin-skinned he is, I would think Trump would refute it readily if it were untrue.  He could hold it out as another "bust of MLK" example of media bias.

He isn't because it IS his phone.  It IS the samsung android galaxy.  It has NOT been locked down -- it hasn't been updated in years.  And it is no doubt why US intel considers the white house situation room to be compromised:

You keep mentioning that the tweets are coming from two different phones.  Do you know that HE is the one operating those phones when the tweets are sent?  That is, do you know that he isn't writing the tweets and asking someone else to post them?

I have posted a preponderance of evidence.  If it looks like a duck, etc.

Yes, evidence that is easily called into question.

Quote:
- he had it in January
Right, he didn't take office until a little after mid Jan.

Quote:
- NYT says he kept it after his fed phone was provided

And either the NYT or WP reported that he actually "turned in" his old phone.  I can't remember which one but it was there.

Quote:
- he tweets from 2 different phones

Ok, not a big deal.  There are actually a lot of people out there that surprisingly enough have multiple cell phones, especially people with money.

Quote:
- he tweeted right before the dinner with Abe from a galaxy

OMG.

Quote:
- the galaxy he had in January was from 2012, last updated 2015

The one that was supposedly reported to be turned in?  Convenient how you like to ignore that part of the article.

Quote:
- NYT says his own team objected to his keeping the phone

NYT "reported" in an article that was initially a fluff piece where this was mentioned with absolutely no evidence provided.  Anonymous sources, anonymous references, nothing.

Quote:
To me, this is a reasonable preponderance of evidence.  It is enough to merit an investigation.  He's not doing anything illegal, but he's being deeply stupid.

He is being stupid with his phone.  Every time there is a tweet coming from Trump it makes we want to slap him and tell him to just STFU.  But so far it's just partisan garbage going along the path that you are going with it.

Quote:
To you and Lomelis, we have the following:
- he might have been issued a secure galaxy and a secure iphone, in spite of the significant technical challenges that presents
- he might have insisted that they secure his 2012 galaxy, in spite of aforementioned challenges
- he might be turning his phones off, removing batteries, storing them in a fridge, etc, which seems odd. If he were of a mind to undertake such precautions, he would find it easier and more secure to just use the federal phone they gave him
- the NYT might be lying, or their sources on Trump's team might be lying

To me, these are far more difficult to believe.  The present a more fanciful speculation.

Given that he made cyber-security one of the main planks of his platform, it seems entirely reasonable that he put to rest concerns over his own personal security practices.  It would be an easy thing for him to do, and those two senators I linked to in an article can provide him a ready and secure channel with which to shut this story down.

He will not do it.

He won't do it.  That's right.  It doesn't make any sense to.  Obama appeased the birthers by providing his BC online.

Did that appease them?  No.  It just got worse.

Those news sources DID report that Trump turned in his old phone, citing press releases.  Then LATER, they ran stories saying he actually KEPT his old phone, citing white house sources.  Since that time he has been photographed with a galaxy phone.

The govt bat-phone was a blackberry.

Could the government have switched phone platforms for this new administration?  Could they be supporting multiple phones for the man, in spite of the extreme difficulty?  Could they be working to harden a years-old phone that hasn't had a security patch?  All remotely possible.

It seems far more plausible that they would issue him a new phone that deploys and extends all the best work they did under Obama, that Trump doesn't LIKE the new phone because it lacks many of the capabilities he enjoys (for security reasons), and that he is either heedless or blissfully ignorant of the security gap he is creating by holding on to the old hardware.

Like I said, I'm not crafting a legal case.  I'm crafting a preponderance of evidence, and I am providing the most plausible path.  Trump is now being challenged on this in the senate.  He can clear this up with a flick of his wrist.  He could in fact make hay out of this, like he did with the MLK bust.

But he LIKES HIS OLD PHONE.

A preponderance of the evidence.  Too bad that wasn't enough to put Hillary in an orange jumpsuit but it's now okay to use where Trump is concerned.  Oh the hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy? That preponderance kept Hillary out of the White House, and now the same preponderance (in the same cyber arena) is apparently fake news. But hey! Forget about Trumps leaky phone - those spies didn't show us a warrant!

Her poor campaign planning, the voters and the EC keep her out of the WH.

No one said forget about his phone.

We don't even know that he was using a personal device, let alone a leaky one.
