Quite an eclectic group you list! Smiley

1. John Mellencamp (One of my favorite individual recording artists. Wrote a lot of great songs.)
2. Michael Jackson (King of Pop)
3. Elvis Presley (Young Elvis or Fat Elvis, both were great!)
4. Freddie Mercury (He made some great songs with Queen)
5. Jackie Wilson (A little before my time)
6. Roy Orbison (I only know 1 or 2 songs from him)
7. Jay Black (I don't know who this is)

John mellencamp? Really? No offense, but would not have guessed it.

Jackie Wilson...truly a great voice and performer. Check out some vids on YouTube. Great vocal range...no need for auto tune. Lonely teardrops ( American bandstand version). , baby workout, your love keeps lifting me higher, reet petite, et. Al.

Roy Orbison: pretty woman, crying, it's over, mean woman blues, only the lonely, in dreams, et.al.

Also, Stevie wonder.

Jay black, cara Mia, come a little bit closer, some enchanted evening, only in America, and more. All these guys had exceptional voices and could sing, emote, and are, in my humble opinion unequaled today. Check them out!

Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey...agreed. Don't know Lea Salina or Eva Cassidy.

Not familiar with Vanessa Williams stuff.

But do like Etta James, "at last."

If you want to hear some exceptional acapella, try a you tube search for Jesi Erin, " boogie woogie bugle boy from company B, bohemian rhapsody, rhythm of the rain, one fine day. It's more than meets the eye...or the ear! Let me know what you think!

Yes, he's a leftist-libbie if there ever was one. But I really like a lot of his songs, like "Pink Houses," "Small Town," "Jack and Diane," "Check it Out," etc. His more recent efforts are way too Bob Dylan-ish and sucky.

Salonga and Cassidy are incredible vocalists.

Lea Salonga is mostly popular for her Broadway performances. She has the absolute best version of "On My Own" (from "Les Miserables"). So sweet, yet so powerful.

Eva Cassidy's version of "Over the Rainbow" will melt your heart. Tragically, she died of cancer before she could really establish herself as a performer.
