Thanks to that champion of socialized medicine Ronald McReagan ..

The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA)[1] is an act of the United States Congress, passed in 1986 as part of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA).

It requires hospital Emergency Departments that accept payments from Medicare to provide an appropriate medical screening examination (MSE) to individuals seeking treatment for a medical condition, regardless of citizenship, legal status, or ability to pay.

There are no reimbursement provisions. Participating hospitals may not transfer or discharge patients needing emergency treatment except with the informed consent or stabilization of the patient or when their condition requires transfer to a hospital better equipped to administer the treatment

Jasmine and Vypr, while I do not agree with eliminating the 26 year old under their parents insurance, I praise both of you for working in the spirit of this thread.

The goal is common ground. Neither side getting what they want, and through mutual sacrifice, both feeling like they got a good deal.

Thank you. You set the bar in this thread, so we try to meet it.

Anyone can walk into any public hospital and get treated. When I went thrubchemo half the patients on the 12th floor at Jackson memorial had no insurance, some illegals, all being treated without paying. This myth promoted by obama that people are dying because they can't get care is the greatest lie told
