Should I retire?

Given the current climate.. is now a good time to retire.  I'm comfortable. Secure. I've put in years and still feel like I something to offer but retiring now would free up some time that I could put towards other endeavors..

How'bout you.?.. Considering retiring?

Seriously I retired in Oct 2013 it lasted 3 months I was so bored I took a part time job doing a run from Southern California to Cincinnati once a month which left me 3 weeks a month to do what ever I wanted after 6 more months I got bored again and to make a long story short I'm now working full-time 70 hours a week. If your work habits are anything like mine you won't know what to do with all that spare time there's only so much yard work and other things you can do. I'll probably never completely retire unless my health force's me too. Good luck Retirement isn't all it's cracked up to be.

That's an interesting anecdote. I don't know if I'll find it boring. I'm considering going to school for luthiery. I believe I'd be good at it.

If you have a real desire to do something else, why not? You deserve to do what makes you happy. Best wishes on your decision.  Smiley

I retired after 65+ years of working.  We got a 5th wheel and was out the door for 2 years going all over the U.S.

Came home and pick up a 380 acres farm on the South East side of the state.   Have not had a dull moment in the last 15 years.  We live over 68 miles out of town, and the wife love it.  She was a city gal until we moved on the farm.

We go in and pick up our mail every 2 months or so.  Winter time it's every 3 or 4 months, as they don't deliver mail out this far.   There is so much junk mail the just put our mail in a big corrugated box as the mail box fill up in about two weeks with junk mail.   Grin

We pay 150$ for 3 year of emergency helicopter service if needed.  Most all of us out this way have it.

I enjoy my job but young people were losing their jobs.  So I ask how many people would they keep if I retired. They said 3 so I was out the door in 2 months.  Grin

Not sure what you do now, but the retirement choice seems perfect for you.
