POLITICO writer worries about the smear tactics and boycott employed against O'Reilly

(snip)

"Still, despite the negative perception of O’Reilly and the allegations made against him, the impact of ad boycotts energized by social media also raises question about the chill effect it has in the industry. Politico media writer Jack Shafer took another angle in a column urging people “to pause and think through the consequences of the calls for advertiser boycotts.”

Shafer writes:

“The O’Reilly boycott is a bad idea. Even if you hate the guy, think of it this way: It may end up energizing calls for advertising boycotts against the on-air talent you like, inspiring timidity among ad buyers who are already too timid.”

O’Reilly may have a better sense of how all of this will turn out — after all, he’s weathered scandals in the past. But if the ad boycott results in his firing, who’s to say that won’t or can’t happen to other shows on other networks after similar social media campaigns?"

FFS, really???

If any TV personality that I happen to like is accused of multiple sexual harassment allegations, then fcuk him/her. It's been pointed out to you in other threads, but as a human being, you should feel the same way. This isn't about party bias. This is about a major personality who's sexual harassment settlements came to light. Get it through your tinfoil wrapped head. You come off like you are completely insane. Seriously. Think for a minute. This is about money, not your dumb conspiracy theories.

Accusations don't constitute "guilty as charged", But what is the actually alleged conduct? Do you even know?  In another thread you referred to it as being "sexual assault" which is a criminal act, that no one has alleged.  Considering the fact that O'Reilly denies the allegations and that it was FOX, not O'Reilly himself, that decided to settle out of court, I think it is both unfair and unAmerican to go after his sponsors threatening to boycott them if they continue to sponsor his program, based on some (unknown) conduct.

Whether  it's party bias or not, whatever happened to being presumed innocent and knowing what the facts are before someone is publicly lynched?  Do you realize that a case of "sexual harassment" can be brought for conduct as simple as telling a female subordinate that she is looking really sexy today.  Of course, it can also go so far as quid pro quo advancements and touching behavior.  We really don't know what happened?

No, he has laid out a very clear case of Media Matter, Brock and Bonner collaborating Fox's demise.  The left HATES Fox so why is this a reach?

You did not watch the video?  Watch the video and LISTEN to the FBI Directors answers and you will have your answer.  By the way, NO, O'Reilly did not pay anything, FOX News did.  You have a real hard time with facts,

Apparently he did personally settle in some instances and the allegations are in the article.

You have a real hard time with facts.  The fact is that Hillary was not charged with anything.  People don't go to jail for lying unless it is under oath.  O'Reilly did pay hush money out of his own pocket.
