Putin's think-tank drafted plan to sway US elections
Apr 20th, 2017 at 5:22pm
Print Post
A Russian government think tank controlled by Vladimir Putin developed a plan to swing the 2016 U.S. presidential election to Donald Trump and undermine voters’ faith in the American electoral system, three current and four former U.S. officials told Reuters.

They described two confidential documents from the think tank as providing the framework and rationale for what U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded was an intensive effort by Russia to interfere with the Nov. 8 election. U.S. intelligence officials acquired the documents, which were prepared by the Moscow-based Russian Institute for Strategic Studies [en.riss.ru/], after the election.

The institute is run by retired senior Russian foreign intelligence officials appointed by Putin’s office.

The first Russian institute document was a strategy paper written last June that circulated at the highest levels of the Russian government but was not addressed to any specific individuals.

It recommended the Kremlin launch a propaganda campaign on social media and Russian state-backed global news outlets to encourage U.S. voters to elect a president who would take a softer line toward Russia than the administration of then-President Barack Obama, the seven officials said.

(since there was some guffawing over the notion that the media has dropped the Trump-Russia story, I thought I'd post this, which came out today...)

In other words "sources say", well that's certainly a new one.

Now lets go just a bit farther down in the article.

Quote:
“Putin had the objective in mind all along, and he asked the institute to draw him a road map,” said one of the sources, a former senior U.S. intelligence official.

Trump has said Russia’s activities had no impact on the outcome of the race. Ongoing congressional and FBI investigations into Russian interference have so far produced no public evidence that Trump associates colluded with the Russian effort to change the outcome of the election.

But thanks for sharing.

I recall Obama;'s CIA Director's early comments saying that Russia had done what they have always done and people who live in glass houses really can't throw stones, because  this propaganda campaign is done by every nations with the capability to do so and is really just a more technical extension of what has been done through the Cold War and even way back before then.  He also said there is no evidence they had any influence in hacking the vote and how much their propaganda influenced voters was a purely political issue. (propaganda is used by everyone, not just the Russians)  This issue is a Red Herring to cover up for what really caused Hillary Clinton to lose to Donald Trump!

So, another article that doesn't tie Trump to Russia.

And, how can anyone be softer on Putin than Obama was? Putin ran around the world doing whatever he wanted and Obama just waved his finger and warned Putin that he was going to be on the wrong side of history. What a joke.

Exactly correct, and the democrats losing the House majority in 2010, losing the U.S. Senate majority in 2014, and losing the U.S. Presidency in 2016 were a referendum on Obama, Hillary, and the democrat party itself .. and all of them were rebuked and rejected by the American voters, and had nothing to do with the Russians, and the deceitful lying liberal news networks know it, too, .. but, refused to acknowledge how badly Obama and Hillary did hurt the democrat party.

Remember in 2008 when the Russians hacked John McCain's email?  He was the Republican candidate for POTUS. Where was the outrage then?

Go way back and recall that during the COld War, Sen. Ted Kennedy flew to the Soviet Union and negotiated with the Kremlin for them to help defeat Ronald Reagan; they had a propaganda storm then; Where's the outrage???  Oh yeah, there were only three television network and the Liberals controlled all of them and the newspapers!
