I started a thread on the main board, this is intended as a bit less of a fist-fight 😁

As religious people,  do you think your sense of indignation /outrage means he who causes it needs prison time?

If so, does this apply, say, to those of a different religion?

For example, should someone nailing pig entrails to a Mosque door be jailed for causing offence rather than criminal damage (or maybe environmental offences 😂)?

I think we need to be civil and respectful towards each other no matter the religion or lack of.  Protesting does not mean you can inflict harm or deface or destroy private property.  That is NOT protest, that is a criminal act subject to prosecution.  Unfortunately we are training our young adults to think that you can inflict harm or damage personal property and it is considered protesting and is protected.  It is not.  You can get a whole lot further by being civil and respectful then by being criminal.

"Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments."

I mostly agree,  but in my link, the guy basically sat in a church playing pokemon on his phone.

Not really, Frank, they're quite a good punk band and they make serious points about authoritarianism, democracy,  justice, freedom, corruption and patriarchy.

I can't think of a single thing reported about them which would justify the prison time meted out, can you?

Frank was trying to elude the question by making a statement about the victims. Now, you've deprived him of that elusion.

The thread is still open, and I retain high hopes of a stimulating conversation.
