The thread is still open, and I retain high hopes of a stimulating conversation.

As far as frank is concerned, these women are whackos. They don't deserve justice, they are not to be considered as humans with rights or anything.

That's the gospel according to frank...

No.  The "crime" of blasphemy should not be codified into secular law.

Well I mean obviously , but I wondered if any of those who are worried about the persecuted Christians having a different opinion.

I started a thread on the main board, this is intended as a bit less of a fist-fight 😁

As religious people,  do you think your sense of indignation /outrage means he who causes it needs prison time?

If so, does this apply, say, to those of a different religion?

For example, should someone nailing pig entrails to a Mosque door be jailed for causing offence rather than criminal damage (or maybe environmental offences 😂)?

I will catch a lot of grief regarding this.

I know that we have been told "judge not lest ye not be judged".  However blasphemy is, to me, a big no go when it comes to man judging it.

Why? Frankly we don't understand what it is exactly.  The word blaspheme is used for a number of words in the old Testament.  It's used for curse, revile and despise.

In neither Testament does the word mean to offend any man's religious feelings.  In other words it definitely does not apply to playing pokemon on a phone in church or forgetting to take your hat off.

The New Testament says that Christ atoned for all of mankind's sins.  All of them.  Each sin that was ever committed by all mankind before Christ and every sin that is to be committed by mankind after Him.  Except one.  Blaspheme.  Specifically Blaspheme of, or against the Holy Spirit.

Now I have my own feelings on what this is or what it could be.  I am sure of one thing.  It must be a very bad thing.  Very Very Very Very Bad.  Think about it.   If there is only one sin that cannot be pardoned and means that you cannot enjoy Christ's gift of atonement and everlasting life, that means that there are going to be some surprised folks in Heaven with some other folks that we think right now shouldn't be there.

Something of that magnitude, man has no key to sit in judgment of, especially not in this temporal existence.

No, true blaspheme is not something that we have the knowledge, ability or calling to legislate, judge or punish.

However, as in many other instances, man does have a knack for screwing around with the word of God.
