The Trump Presidency Falls Apart

highlight:
Even if he is not in personal jeopardy, the president risks being a lame duck less than four months into his first term as president. Trump is in no position to save himself. He knows little about his work and shows little interest in learning it—Reuters reports that National Security Council staffers insert his name at periodic intervals into briefing papers to keep his attention—and his staff, an oddball mix of true believers, political rookies, and fourth-rate hangers on, does not have the chops to whip him into shape.

I actually believe he did not think  he was going to win.  Then, when he did win, it came as a shock and he was totally unprepared.

Incompetence should scare you as well, but if it doesn't, I guess that's your thing.

He's from the Echo Chamber..  Incompetence is a prerequisite there.

There's no question he did not expect to win.  That's why he whined so much about the process being rigged and whined that the electoral college should be done away with.  I doubt anybody in American was more surprised when he won than he was.

And there's no question he was totally unprepared.  He won't admit it, of course, because he truly believes he already knows everything he needs to know to do anything he feels led to do.  (That's the nature of narcissistic, delusional, sociopaths.)

I am not sure the Trump presidency can, technically, "fall apart."  Wouldn't it have to "come together" first?  I don't see much evidence it has done that yet.

Trump would have said he didn't need to prepare -- his entire life was preparation enough.  He's like a smart guy.  He'd make a great president, actually.  Lots of people said so.

The fact that his administration is falling apart should come as no surprise -- his companies fell apart repeatedly.  He wasn't any kind of business genius, either.  Anyone investing the money he got from his father would have earned the same return by merely investing it in stock index funds.  Without stiffing contractors and robbing investors.

It is wild to see this whole crash unfolding before our eyes.  It's an historic time, to be sure.  People are going to be talking about this for decades.

He is doing real damage to the republican party.  It looks like this is starting to sink in.  Republicans in the house are all thinking about the mid-term elections next year, and they are doing the electoral math -- how to distance themselves from Trump before his actual crash.

Chaffetz is exhibit A.  His conservative credentials and reputation as a republican street-fighter are top-tier, and yet he has directed the FBI to send over all the Comey memos regarding his conversations with Trump.

That is exactly what the press intends to do, destroy his ability to govern.  Innuendos is about all they have but there are enough clueless people to buy into it without any real evidence to support their claims.

"Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments."

"Destroy his ability to govern"?  Are you kidding?

The press follows him around writing down what he says and taking pictures of what he does as he lurches from one self imposed crisis to another, and you think it's "destroying his ability to govern?"

"Clueless people" buying into fiction is an apt description of the Donald's supporters.

He's destroying his ability to govern by being himself.
