Kinda depends on your soil ph, but I've never heard of overdoing lime.

Once a month too much?  Every 60 days?  I'm trying to keep grass growing in wet dust I think.

The best way to know that is to test your soil

I find those home soil kits ineffective or too hard to use

Best way is to send a soil sample to a lab

Grass does well at 6.5 PH

Jaysus how things have changed in my life.  In 1967 my brother and myself were alone in our house because  my mother was in the hospital, my father was who knows where and we only had a bottle of ketchup and four cans of green beans between us to eat.  50 years later I'm thinking about grass and lime...

Ain't life a bitch....

But doesn't the lime (no matter how much) bring the soil to neutral (6.5)?

Greg, all the states I have lived in offer free testing through the county ag office.

Two for ya
1) What does lime do for a lawn?
2) I had these horrible Sumac trees, Staghorn I think, in my backyard. Had them removed but now they're popping up like weeds all over. I'm assuming the long roots that didn't get removed are budding. What to do?
