I just took my new Range Rover out for the first time.

Off road training.

I used to drive Army Land Rovers.

This thing is just as good in the mud, but with fan cooled, leather seats.

Those are 85k here.

You could of paid 30k less for mine with a nice carbon monoxide leak.

I didn't really pay 55 for a ford explorer. When you know the dealer you can get the top model for the price of the base model. He nabbed me pretty easy.

I got a free detector the other day  Tongue

FORD kind of ruined their EXPLORER when they redesigned it in 2010, Don'tchathink?  CoolNow I may as well buy a Pilot; It's a far better vehicle than the new Explorer.

No, I've like the newer style for a while now. You mean the old tough look?

Pilot is nice, and Honda does have a better reliability reputation. But I love the look of both. And the deal I got kind of grabbed me the most.

When it comes to Power, the Explorer blows it away. But that's why the Explorer is a gas guzzler compared to the Pilot.

The Pilots front is better looking, but the side views have me at a stand still.

Ford owned them for a few years, really helped get their mojo back with the S-type and a couple of other good sellers/finally reliable / drove well.

Then the Indian firm Tata invested,  but left the design functions and manufacturing alone.

British industry is exceptionally good at design,  pretty damn' good at manufacturing,  bloody hopeless at long term planning.

Our senior executives are useless.

Many years ago, when Rootes Group conglomerate manufactured so many of the British cars, most used Lucas electrics and had electrical problems, same as the British motorcycles (if I'm not mistaken).  Family had a Hillman Minx in the 1960's that used to vapor lock on steep hills...

Best FORD/British collaboration was the Sunbeam Tiger w/289 Ford V8 (Alpine's big brother)  Held the road like it was on rails ;  Austin Healey 2000 MkIII; not so much..
