Yeah, yeah, yeah, same old question that has been asked dozens of times.  I get some of you do not think highly of those who served or are serving, we have known this since Vietnam, nothing has changed regardless of the liberal facade that was on display under Obama.

Plus Im too old

You're "too old"? I always thought you were one of the younger ones here, like in your 20's or 30's.

Our war with North Korea will be done with buttons, not ground soldiers. Push push push.

I simply pointed out that the same dangers that you said you faced are faced everyday by civilians as well.

I have a high regard for those that serve especially the ones that enlist during times of conflict, which by your admission you did not face.

furthermore I find it despicable the way our veterans are treated especially the ones from the Nam era.

I also get it that you did not approve of obamma as president.

I have two son's serving at this moment.  One in the Air Force and one in the Army.  My son in the Army is a field artillery tactical data system specialist, or something like that.  Longest damn MOS name I have ever seen...back on point.

No I do not want either of my son's to die for their country.  However they took an oath and I and everyone else should expect them to stand by it.

For those of you who served and ever saw combat you should know a couple of things.  The Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen of this country, once deployed, do not fight and die for the country.  At that point they fight and die for each other, end of story.  So at the end of the day, it matters not to the ones at the point of the spear where they are sent or why.

Now that we are all safe an cozy at Camp Lazy Boy, Fort Hammock, Ocean View Naval Station and BBQ Air Force Base, we have the luxury of debating the how, why and when.  It's your right to do so.

Now directly to answer your question.  I would but as are most of you, I am not considered young enough.  I would not go to implement a policy that was given down by the government though.  I would go to stand shoulder to shoulder with my Corps and hope that I could play a part in making it possible for us to all see our families again.

These posts are really not constructive because I would bet that all of the vets here, regardless of current political leanings would feel the pull of brotherhood and gladly serve again if able, allowed and called upon, not for cause or policy, but the brotherhood.   I would hazard the assumption that all of us are also deeply honored by the service of current children and close family members that a serving in this moment.  I would also hazard the assumption that the man of us who have close family serving currently lose as many sleepless nights as I do.

That might be a stretch.  I didn't do it gladly the first time.  But I would do it again under the same circumstances, which was basically I was dragged kicking and screaming all the way to Viet Nam.

You do not get to choose your conflicts, but there were a variety of conflicts known and unknown during those relatively quiet two decades.  For the longest time it was the Navy who saw more activity until the Gulf war.  That is how it went, no one can predict what conflicts would arise during one's service.  If I could do it again I would, again, choose the Navy.

You can join but 30's is to old bud. Especially late 30's.

Go back half a millennium and more, the leaders of a country were expected to be actually in any wars, sword in hand.

I think that has great merit as a rule for governance.

You want a war, Fat Kim? Donald?

Ok, here's a sword, a horse, and a field. Let us know how you get on.

Of course,  nowadays it's unusual to have national leaders who have served.

I am beginning to sound like Frank1....

The abbreviation for 'stone' is 'st', not 's'.
