Wrong. You said IF someone said god told them to mass kill, that wouldn't be god. So you've ruled out the possibility of god saying such a thing, i.e. bad things. Or are you saying god is constrained to say only things you agree with?

In the old testament god interfered continuously in people's affairs. He would give superpowers to his prophets and send them to defy his enemies. When the enemies of god refused to concede then he would cause catastrophes of all sorts. Killing people in a very specific way unless they'd gone though some silly ritual. I mean that god is very different from the one we're supposed to believe in today. He would do formidable things like parting the red sea for example or flood the entire world. But now it seems god has gotten tired of the theatrics, he's become invisible, imperceptible. No more grandiose miracles. That's a lot of differences for someone that doesn't change, don't you think?

Wrong. God did not continuously interfere (in a miraculous sense).  He did choose and do many miraculous with a people/nation that He chose in order to bring the redeemer. But there were long patches of silence. For example before John the Baptist came on the scene there were 400 years of silence without a prophet. Christ did many miracles and the Apostles were also empowered to do great signs and wonders for the establishment of the Church.  Christ said that a perverse and wicked generation seeks after signs.  The next great outbreak of the miraculous will be Christ's 2nd coming in power to judge the Earth.  The New Testament makes one thing clear and that is that signs, wonders, miracles in and of themselves do nothing to cure unbelief and rebellion. The Pharisees even plotted to kill Lazarus because it confirmed Christ's Messiahship.  Like Christ told us in the story of the rich man and Lazarus.

Quote:
27And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father’s house— 28for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ 29But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

Those that reject, defy, and blaspheme God's written words and warnings in scripture will not even change their minds should they see the miraculous.

Actually, I for one would publicly eat my words and apologise for my general, intermittent anti - religious attitude if I saw the miraculous.

Not if someone else saw it and told me about it.

I wouldn't be too precipitous if I were you. Some magician tricks are pretty amazing and kinda look like miracles when you're not watching too closely.
