So is there specific language in the resolution which would require him to actually apologize?

Here's what the resolution urges the President to do:

(i) speak out against hate groups that espouse racism, extremism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, and White supremacy; and

(ii) use all resources available to the President and the President’s Cabinet to address the growing prevalence of those hate groups in the United States

Trump was mad that he had to come out and do a public condemnation of "the klan, the neo-nazis, the supremacists, all of them".  He said his initial statements were fine.  He is known for never admitting he was wrong about anything.  Going back and denouncing these groups, under pressure, after having implicitly defended them, makes it look like he is admitting he was wrong.

It galls him.

So now he's got a unanimous congressional resolution prodding him, with more authority and urgency, to clarify what he doesn't want clarified, to emphasize what he does not want emphasized, and to demonstrate that congress is wielding influence over a president who actively fights against any and all constraints.

Smacking his peepee across the desk.  I'm gonna get some popcorn.

A response, not an answer.

Then the answer is no. Thanks, FC was apparently not able to handle answering the question.

I am just glad the congress is taking time to do things like this rather than all the crap ideas they get that lead them to pass harmful legislation.  I guess there is a silver lining in this whole white supremacy movement.  They got congress sidetracked and distracted.

"You had some very bad people in that group. You also had some very fine people on both sides."

There are three, and only three interpretations of that statement.

- President Trump thinks some Nazis and Klan members are fine people.

- President Trump has no idea what’s going on around him at any time and is dangerously without faculty.

- President Trump has chosen to say to the Nazis and Klan members things that will make them continue their love and support for him, which has so far been near undying.

All three things are unacceptable. There is no plausible fourth option. He said not all of the people were “neo-Nazis”. You guys. They were marching WITH neo-Nazis. They were standing in solidarity with swastikas and white hoods. Those are not fine people. But that’s what he said.

So you simply cannot blithely claim “that’s not what he said.” It is what he said. These are the only meanings he could have been communicating. Perhaps all three are true. Maybe just the first and third. The particular combination doesn’t matter. When the Klan, the neo-Nazis, and their white supremacist allies lit torches, formed a mob, marched through the streets denouncing non-whites while carrying Trump signs and stickers, and a woman was killed for objecting, the President had the opportunity to do and say the right thing. And He. Did. Not. Take it.

As for your charge, Glen, not sure how my posts fall short of clarity for you.  Did the resolution call on Trump to apologize?  No.  Did Trump apologize?  No.  Did he get his peepee smacked across the desk?  Absolutely.  Any further clarity needed?

Yes, the passage of this will sure help boost the economy, and repair America's infrastructure.  Lol

It won't.  But it also won't do additional harm.  Which was my point.  That congressional legislation tends to be harmful.  The fact that they are distracted by this is keeping them, at least for some small period, from doing said harm.

You did a bunch of talking and failed to actually give an answer. Someone had to step in and do it for you.

Ok finally, this is an answer. Apparently it was just too much to ask, without all of the other unnecessary yakking.

I understand your point. However using that logic congress shouldn't really pass anything.
