From The Hill:

Quote:
The Supreme Court agreed late Tuesday to lift restrictions on President Trump's travel ban until further notice, allowing the administration to continue barring most refugees under the ban.

People really need to look at see if there's another thread before starting a new one, especially when the other one is still on the first page.

But y'all really don't understand what a temporary stay is do ya.

Here's the SCOTUS order:

"The application for stay of mandate presented to Justice Kennedy and by him referred to the Court is granted, and the issuance of the mandate of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in case No. 17-16426 is stayed with respect to refugees covered by a formal assurance, pending further order of this Court" (Source)

In other words, since the SCOTUS hasn't heard the case yet (remember that other circuit court decisions have previously been appealed), the 9th Circuit ruling cannot go into effect (yet depending on the SCOTUS ruling).

That's not a smack down.

Also, y'all realize this thing expires soon right? The SCOTUS pussed out and punted (they don't have enough balls to deliver an actual smack down).

It's an INDEFINITE STAY dumbass, not a temporary stay, for which there would be an expiration date.  Try again, megabrain.  Grin

Or you could just not be lazy and quickly peruse the first page. That does require actual reading though.

Except there will be a Supreme Court hearing. The ruling has been stayed because there is a case pending before the court. So, it's not indefinite (except in a technically legal sense).

Also, if the court wanted to deliver a "smack down," then it would rule on the merits and say Trump can do this constitutionally. Instead, they're waiting out the clock for the whole issue to become moot.

Hey, here's an idea, Sparky - why don't you spend your time reading the phone book?   Grin

The technical legal sense is all that matters.  Your hallucinations have no standing.  Smiley  Oops!  There's them dadgum technical legal terms again!  Grin

Dream on - they will ultimately undoubtedly completely uphold the president's constitutional authority to control immigration.

Is this supposed to be insulting and/or funny?

The reality is that there is a clock ticking here. And in October, the SCOTUS will either uphold the circuit courts' decisions, overturn them, or they'll find it's moot (which is the most likely scenario).

So, after their ruling in June, they're suddenly going to decide the constitutional issues when they're moot because the order has expired? Who's really dreaming here? They punted in June, they just punted again, and they're going to punt in October.

Dream on.  Grin  Trump's bank of lawyers will figure out whatever legal hocus-pocus is necessary to get what he wants, and the Constitution is on his side.

So, they're not going to rule in October? There isn't a pending case that will be decided next month? This issue won't be decided?

Keep playing lawyer here if you want and enjoy the technicalities.

So, the court who split the baby in half in June is suddenly going to shift course.
