Here are the Old Testament scriptures regarding eternal life.

    Daniel 12:2

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Here are some of the more obvious teachings about the judgement:

    Ps. 9:7

But the LORD shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment.

    Ps. 50:4

He shall call to the heavens from above, And to the earth, that He may judge His people:

    Eccl. 3:17

I said in my heart, “God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, For there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.”

    Eccl. 11:9

... But know that for all these God will bring you into judgment.

    Eccl. 12:14

For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.

I don't think the Catholics teach that a Christian goes to Hell simply for not having the Extreme Unction performed.  (Are there any actual Catholics around to confirm this?)  I think they might spend longer in Purgatory, though.

As for confessing sins to priests, that's a whole other argument.

Again, the word in Greek is presbuteros, which is usually interpreted to mean "pastor", as is the Greek word episkopos.  Perhaps that's a misinterpretation, but it's a long-running one and a reasonable reading of the term.

This seems wrong.  For starters, the prayer of faith to is probably the prayer of the elder, which was just mentioned in the prior verse.  This passage doesn't mention the sick person praying.  For seconds, there's no indication that when James asks, "Is any among you sick?" that he means anything other than ordinary illness.

Then why is the sick person supposed to call for the elders of the church, have them anoint the sick with oil, and pray over them, if it has "nothing to do" with what's going on?

The OT says almost nothing about the afterlife.  Not surprisingly, Jews don't consider it an important thing to worry about.

All your points are well taken and illustrate why there are so many different Christian denominations, some of which, at times, hate each other so much they burn people at the stake.  There have been and always will be differing opinions about what James teaches in these verses.

Purgatory might be an interesting topic for discussion.  I think it's a completely made up doctrine that is not supported by the entirety of scripture.  Of course, there are those who think the entirety of scripture is completely made up, and I would not want to discuss it with them.

The Catholic Bible has more books than the Protestant Bible, and Purgatory is supported in those additional books.  Although all Christian denominations that I know of accept the 66 books of the Protestant Bible, most non-Protestant denominations have additional books.

It's generally a bad idea to literally interpret obviously allegorical prophecy.

Probably earthly judgment.

It is!?  What do you think he is saying then?
No, it is eternal judgement as Jesus himself spoke about frequently.

I know about the Apocrypha.  It's no coincidence it's called that.

I am not sure any of this is supported by scripture.  In fact, I am certain it is not.

It makes sense to concoct yet another reason to keep people living in perpetual fear of death and the afterlife.  They needed a way to keep the church in complete control of your lives. From birth to grave.

At birth, a priest MUST baptize the baby or it burns for eternity. At your death, you MUST have the priest rush to your home in hopes of administering these last rituals while the patient is still conscious, though there is a rule apparently that the priest can still give the rights even if he's late.  If he's a no show, you can do it yourself but I assume it's like weaker or amateur, so the loved one probably only gets some heaven, like on the weekends maybe.
