The thread entropy problem

A thread can start out discussing, say, the use of nukes against North Korea.  Come back three pages later, and it might read like this:

"I tell you, Czechvar Premium Czech Lager is the best Czech beer!"

"No you fool - EVERYONE knows that changed in 2007 - it's Cerná Hora Ležák!"

By little or big tweaks, posters change the topic until it bears little relation to the OP.  Perhaps such posters could break off and create their own thread?  Instead of this nearly stream-of-consciousness topic morphing.

It's a message board.

Threads have always done that and are part of the appeal for me. Multiple conversations, legit debates, running banter, ad-homs, and random one-offs...all in a single thread. I read what interests me and ignore what doesn't. So easy even a monkey can do it!

For too long have we sat under the thumb of mankind! The time has come to *oppose* that thumb!

A nothing burger!

Actually admin will delete those remarks that steal the thread.  Some will attempt to divert from the topic as a pivot tactic, rather then address the issue.  Personally after several pages of discussion it is typical for the thread to devolve from it's original topic.  I am no fan of those who immediately start out stealing the threads.

"Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments."

if it has any meat to it, it won't stay stolen.  If it doesn't, it deserves to be stolen.  It's just an internet forum, you know.

The trick is to start threads that are so interesting people don't want to talk about anything else.

Much of what gets posted is petty partisan bs and you can only say so much about that.

"Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influences, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist." J M Keynes

"In the first place, the dichotomy between "theoretical" and "practical" is a false one. In economics, all arguments are theoretical. And, since economics discusses the real world, these theoretical arguments are by their nature "practical" ones as well." M Rothbard

Like praising the leftists fight against the channeling of a dark enlightenment by the alt-right?
