If conservatives are not willing to vote to repeal it, it can be that bad.

It wasn't collapsing.  .. Well at least in states that embraced the ACA it wasn't collapsing. Red States on the other hand did everything they could to punish their citizens.

Obamacare is only 'exploding' in red states.

In states with Republican governors, more than 40 million people live in counties with only one insurer. In states with Democratic governors, there are 10.7 million people who live in such counties.

There are two main ways in which Republican governors have been effective in sabotaging Obamacare in their states. The first and most important was by refusing to expand Medicaid.

Governors who chose to expand that program pulled many lower-income people out of the Obamacare insurance pool — people who tend to be less healthy and have higher medical bills on average. By taking this higher-cost population out of the exchanges, they reduced the risk to insurers. Applying this logic inversely, governors who refused to expand Medicaid ended up with a less-healthy mix of people in the exchanges.

The other issue is the extent to which states took the initiative to promote Obamacare. Less healthy people generally don’t have to be prodded to buy insurance, since they know they need it. The issue is whether more healthy people buy into the system. Insurers are going to lose money if all the people they insure have serious health problems.

Democratic governors generally tried to persuade people to buy insurance, while Republican governors were more often neutral, if not openly hostile, to the program.

It won't collapse or die unless Trump kills it.  People do want it.  People are signing up for it.  It is not failing.  It is doing what it said it would do, i.e., enable people to afford, through subsidies, access to quality health insurance that meets a reasonable level of coverage.  I know you can't see it on account of the blinders.  But it's there.

Now, not EVERYBODY who lacks other health insurance (employer or Medicare or Medicaid being the top three sources) feels like paying anything for health insurance.  They'd rather play the lottery and assume they won't need much healthcare.  If they're right, they win.  If they're wrong, they show up at the  emergency room when it gets bad enough.  There  have always been and will always be people who are irresponsible.

Universal coverage is on the way, though.  The last time something similar was trotted out was Medicare in the 60's  The AMA hired Ronald Reagan, then a B movie actor somewhat on the decline, to be their spokesperson against it.  He expertly delivered the script he was handed to tell us the horrible things that would happen if Medicare became law.  Medicare became law.  None of those horrible things happened.  The AMA came to love Medicare over the next few years.

That scenario will repeat itself when universal coverage comes to everybody,  not just to the old farts among us.

I want Obamacare to be killed completely.

Rand Paul is praising Trump's actions today, so it must be a pretty positive step forward.

Obamacare is and has always been another government overreach into the affairs of the private sector. How can anyone justify *REQUIRING* American citizens to purchase health coverage? That completely goes against the principle of freedom.

Obamacare relies on young and healthy people to pay for the poor and elderly people who don't have insurance. That's just wrong.

Whatever the President can do to inflict damage on Obamacare, I completely support.

It's now Trumpcare...

We are taking note how hot the potatoe is that you want to get rid of.  Really does not matter, it was a miserable and poorly planned health care that catered to the poor and put the middle class out of insurance.  They only had one group of people that O-care catered to, everyone else was SOL.

It's not failing!!  EF, what planet are you on?  Many insurance companies have been pulling out of it like crazy?  It has become too costly for them because the young simply refused to get coverage to help subsidize the cost.  Now rates are spiralling out of control.
