The Old Rights v. the New Rights!

The First Amendment has long protected the sincerely held religious convictions of Americans as part of the freedoms that this country was founded upon!

The newly fund "rights" of people who chose to be something they biologically are not, fly in the face of religions and cultures throughout the history of the world.

Dylan sang "The Times they are a'changing" and they certainly have changed.  However, does the CHANGE of recognizing gay couples as being a "marriage" mean that people of Faith need to CHANGE their sincerely held religious beliefs?

(I hope that people recall that in 2008 both Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama stated in the debates that they each opposed gay marriage due to their deeply held personal religious beliefs.  Part of the Obama legacy is the CHANGE he (and Clinton, as well of other politicians) made in their stated public positions regarding traditional marriage and their "sincerely held religious beliefs"

Are people of Faith really going to be discriminated against simply because of the political CHANGE of the Obama years?   Angry

The SCOTUS has been stacked with right-wingers for some time now..  There's little doubt that in this case they'll choose ideology over rule of law..

The last time a Religious Liberties case came before the SCOTUS, they dropped back three yards and punted.  In the Little Sisters of the Poor v. Obama case, they said that these nuns did not have to have health insurance which included contraception devices and abortion, BUT they ruled narrowly on this case alone making it clear they were not addressing the broader issue of other religious organizations who objected to the Obamacare Mandates forcing them to buy something that is contrary to their religious beliefs and render a narrow ruling on this case alone (leaving the broader issue unresolved)

I'm sure that Roberts, the cowardly Weasel, is trying to find some clever way to please both sides and punt this issue out of his COurt for the time being.

" It takes some doing to get embroiled in a court fight with nuns who provide hospice care for the indigent. Amazingly, the Obama administration has managed it."

It will be interesting to see if the SCOTUS can wiggle it's way off the hook on this gay marriage versus Religious Rights case.

This is a different twist.

The argument is that forcing the cake maker to provide whatever message on the cake would violate his right to freedom of expression.

Did you read the article?  The issue is exactly as I stated.  The Supreme Court went along with the newly created rights created by the Obama Administration, which used very tortured logic to equate the idea that gay marriage was somehow akin to the idea of interracial marriages.

Politicians like Obama and Hillary Clinton evolved in their positions due to the enormous political pressure of the gay activists.  Over the relatively short period of the Obama Presidency, they changed their own stated opposition to gay marriage due to their own "deeply held religious beliefs".  Not all Americans who still hold their deeply held religious beliefs to be sacred, are willing to simply give them up due to either political correctness or cowardice.

Refusing to sell homosexual-themed wedding cakes is against the law in some leftwing precincts. Freedom of religion, on the other hand, is established in the first amendment to the constitution.   There's no doubt which takes precedence.

Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing what this Robert's Court will do!  They have seemed to be so Hell bent on promoting diversity and political correctness that the majority often creates new "rights" even at the expense of the loss of rights of others, even if this means ignoring the Constitution! It's a matter of wanting to please everyone and only pissing off everyone. by doing so! They've been weak kneed and mealy mouthed to the point sometimes one has to wonder what sort of blackmail does Obama and his gang have on Roberts, anyway!
