It wasn't forced.. The baker asked for a business license.

If he is not permitted to operate a business without it, then it is forced.

Unless you think someone appeared on the pre-baker's doorstep and forced him to accept a license to operate a bakery.

You may not like the business licensing system as designed but you tacitly agree by your unwillingness to relocate to where this system does not exist.

No you don't.  If I tell you that in order to work to feed your family, you must accept a bullet to the foot, you are not tacitly accepting a bullet to the foot when you accept a job and put up with the bullet to the foot in order to do so.

This^ is not the system that we (society, community, local, state, federal) have said works for us (society, community, local, state, federal).

Right.  I understand the "system" that has been forced on all people due to the agreement of some.

Quote:
You are of course free to petition for change or to find a place (society, community, local, state, federal) that better suits your tastes.

How gracious.

Personal experience as a business owner.

LOL.  So, you don't have one.  Thought so.

Quote:
Also note that the bakery owner can price his cakes at anything he'd like.. .. Special orders are always welcome ..

Our benevolent leaders are going to give us that choice, too!?!  Their grace knows no end.

But seriously, maybe these bakers should just start showing their disapproval by making disgusting, ugly cakes when told they have to make one they don't want.

Or, as you suggest, they should make them prohibitively expensive.  Do you think our masters have would allow differential pricing, though?  Probably not.

I'm unsure how to describe someone who exhibits such a truly astounding level of idiocy.

hopefully the SC  will see this for what it is a BS religious excuse to not serve gays just as many claimed that it was against their "beliefs" to accommodate blacks before the Civil Rights Act.

when someone puts up a sign Open For Business it means open to EVERYONE that is simply trying to conduct a legal business transaction.

Read up on the facts idiot.  The baker sold cakes all the time to gays - he just wouldn't sell a wedding cake.

Bless You Heart, if you had a point you wouldn't have started with an insult.

& oh by the way the case is about the fbaker violating a CO. anti discrimination law. after all it's not like the couple asked a pastor to preform their marriage in his church.

Helpful Hint:

quit using your head for a seat chusion

Why would the supreme court see it that way when the baker in question has not refused to serve gay folks?  That is not even the question they are tasked with deciding on.

It is the question of whether his work is art and a form of expression protected by the first amendment.

Says who?  You?  Government?  Saying this doesn't make it right to force those beliefs on anyone.

So if someone is a pastor, suddenly they don't have to be forced by government to carry out their work?  Sounds arbitrary.

Not really..  A church is not a public accommodation and so not bound by an agreed contract.  .

Why aren't they bound to this mythical contract?
