The LNF Pet Thread

Hello, everyone! I’ve created this thread for us to discuss the four-legged companions in our lives, our pets. Aside from my kids, there is another small creature putting a smile on my face, our Pomeranian, Lyle. He loves to play with my kids, follow my wife around the house, urging for a cuddle, hang out in his own dog kennel, and even hitch a ride on our family road trips. He’s been with us for many years and has really grown to be a part of our family. How about you, fellas? What are your furry friends?

I had a jerk russel terrorist for 15 years. After he died, we put him in a hole we dug in the back yard.

Now we have a Labrador and a huge hole in the back yard. Depth took on completely new meaning when she realised she could strike water at 3 feet.

I love dogs but have had only cats for most of my life. The reasons include most rental housing won't allow dogs, but are OK with cats. And then I didn't think I could give a dog enough attention while working.

My last cat died two winters ago, he was almost 18. He caught feline leukemia, probably from a stray that used to invade the house through the cat door and eat the cat food (a known transmission method). I thought my cat's shots were up to date but I also understand they are not 100% effective.

Before that a little six toed female, the year before, from kidney failure at 16 years. Both are interred in the back yard. I miss them, and sometimes I think I see a little fur ball scurrying in the house but it's always just shadows.

I'm planning on retiring in 2019 and then a new dog is a possibility. I love labs, but would not love if they dug up the garden, LOL. I'll probably get something from the local shelter.

It would be interesting to have a pet that can be trained. Cats are smart, but not particularly interested in pleasing people.

What is the cost of lies? It's not that we'll mistake them for the truth. The real danger is that if we hear enough lies, then we no longer recognize the truth at all. What can we do then? What else is left but to abandon the hope of truth and content ourselves instead with stories. In these stories it doesn't matter who the heroes are. All we want to know is who is to blame. - V. Legasov
