Oh Harry, don't tell me that you still can't admit that President Reagan used unfunded mandates to the states to raise taxes for services required of the states by the federal government.

Trump is doing it again.

Why can you not name those unfunded mandates?

From the time government, federal government, involved itself in insurance, it became more expensive. Taking that fact into consideration, wouldn't the best path to make insurance affordable be extracting the federal government from the equation? Obamacare certainly didn't decrease the cost as promised and instead increased it.

The simplest solution is often the correct solution, and removing the federal government from insurance regulation not only makes sense, but it also is historically warranted given the history of cost increases undoubtedly caused by federal government involvement.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Medicare costs less to administer than any for profit health care insurance.

That's a fact, a well known fact.

You were in the insurance industry for years.

Why do you not know that? Or do you?

He seems to be grossly misinformed about a lot of things his savior Reagan did.
Isn't there a conservative call to return to the days when hospitals could dump the uninsured in back alleys.

Reagan also helped dictate to the states free transportation for homeless kids

Mr. Harry seems to have missed the 80s. Where Mr. Reagan mandates all sorts of laws and regulations, but rarely paid for it himself.

I was giving you the chance to do something for yourself. Since Bama have you a biggie, I'll give you a couple more, but hints only.

I've often heard that myth.

I wasn't addressing Medicare though. I'm speaking of privately attained policies. How can you deny that government regulation doesn't raise the cost?

The issue at hand is Medicaid, not Medicare. Medicaid was expanded as an unfunded mandate under Obamacare.  Medicare has it's own funding stream through mandatory, dedicated payroll taxes, just as Social Security does.

The effect to the states which opted to expand their Medicaid under Obamacare, was that such states, like New York simply passed the increased costs on to their counties which had to increase their property taxes.

Essentially this was a socialist scheme to pass the cost of the expansion of Medicaid to now cover lower Middle Class, in addition to poor people, directly onto their neighbors who own property and have to pay property taxes.  Ironically, many of the people who pay the property taxes that help pay for the expansion of Medicaid have their own health insurance policies which don't cover many of the things which are now covered by the Medicaid expansion, such as vision and dental insurance.
